ICYMI: UAW and Ford Strike Tentative Agreement, Bidenomics Aids Middle Class Families and U.S. Economy

Last Wednesday marked a significant milestone as the UAW and Ford unveiled a groundbreaking tentative agreement. This achievement followed President Joe Biden's historic act last month, becoming the first president to stand in solidarity with union workers on a picket line outside a General Motors plant in Michigan.

He proudly announced, “…the UAW and Ford reached a historic tentative agreement that provides a record raise to auto workers and is a testament to our strategy for a powerful manufacturing future made in America, with good, union jobs.”

The agreement provides:

  • 25% salary increases over 4 years

  • Starting wages increase by 68%

  • Top wages increase by 33%

  • Cost of living increases

Union jobs are part of the Bidenomics plan to grow the economy from the middle out and the bottom up with these three core pillars:

  • Making smart investments in America

  • Empowering and educating workers to grow the middle class

  • Promoting competition to lower costs and help entrepreneurs and small businesses thrive

On Thursday, the Treasury Department released a report that said the economy grew 4.9% in the third quarter and U.S. inflation cooled sooner and more quickly than other advanced economies.
