Rep Dan Goldman quote about restoring integrity to the DOJ and HB case

Yesterday on ABC’s "This Week" with Jonathan Karl, Rep. Dan Goldman discussed the restoration of ethics and independence at the Department of Justice and the Hunter Biden case.

Goldman, the former House Democrats' majority counsel during Trump's first impeachment, said that President Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland restored the integrity of the DOJ. One example is keeping a Trump-appointed U.S. attorney to investigate the president's son.

"If there is not an indication of the independence of the Department of Justice beyond that, I don't know what we could look for," Goldman said.

Goldman explained that Hunter Biden's protection from future prosecution was influenced by his attorneys' worries about Trump targeting him if he returned to the White House.

"The fact of the matter is that this is a Trump-appointed U.S. attorney and Trump-appointed judge, this is a very independent and thorough investigation," Goldman said. "And I think that whatever happens in the Hunter Biden case, we can rest assured that it was done based solely on the facts and the evidence, and that there was nothing else to it."
