Pew Research: 25 Million Naturalized Citizens Are Eligible to Vote

Twenty-five million Americans earned the right to vote the hard way. They chose this country, went through years of process, and took an oath to it.

They are naturalized citizens, and their numbers have doubled since 2000. Today they make up one in ten eligible voters nationwide. About a third are Hispanic, a third are Asian, and 11% are Black. They come from Mexico, the Philippines, India, China, Vietnam, and many other countries.

These are our neighbors, coworkers, parents, and community leaders. At a moment when the administration has made immigrants a political target, these 25 million voters are a powerful rebuttal.

Every eligible voter belongs in this fight, whether native-born or naturalized. Voting is power.
