Pew Research: 1 in 4 Americans Are Now the "Sandwich Generation"

One in four American adults is holding two generations together right now. An aging parent on one side. Kids or an adult child on the other.

For Americans in their 40s, that number is 54%. More than half.

And it isn't split evenly. Women carry the heavier caregiving load in this country: aging parents, kids, entire households. This is a women's issue hiding in plain sight.

It's getting worse, too. Sandwiched Americans in their 50s jumped from 36% in 2021 to 45% today. Parents are living longer. Adult kids are struggling to get on their feet. Nobody built the infrastructure to catch either generation.

Elder care. Childcare. Paid family leave. Economic stability for young adults. These aren't four separate problems. They're one exhausted household, seen from four angles.

Leading Ladies Vote fights for equal access to healthcare, housing, and economic security, for every generation, in every family. The sandwich generation deserves a government that actually sees them.
