Good News: The Country Showed Up
This past Saturday, something remarkable happened in every corner of the country — and it didn't come from Washington.
More than 350 events unfolded across all 50 states and Washington, D.C. as part of the League of Women Voters' "Unite & Rise for Voting Rights" Day of Action — the largest coordinated voting rights mobilization yet ahead of the 2026 midterms. Volunteers registered new voters, canvassed neighborhoods, and built coalitions block by block, with a sharp focus on turning out young voters who will decide this election.
"As attacks on our freedom to vote continue, Americans are responding to our constitutional crisis by organizing, showing up, and making their voices heard," said Celina Stewart, CEO of the League of Women Voters. "The scale of this nationwide effort demonstrates that people across every corner of the country are committed to protecting our democracy."
This is what democracy looks like when people refuse to wait for someone else to save it. Not one rally in one city. Hundreds of communities, working independently and in sync, because they understand something simple: power is built, not given.
Our vote is our power, and this weekend, the country proved it's ready to use it. What will you do between now and November to make sure every eligible voter in your life is registered?
