Good News: Christian Bale's Foster Village Opens for Sibling Groups

For 18 years, actor Christian Bale worked toward one goal: making sure siblings in foster care never have to be split up just because a system couldn't find one home big enough for all of them.

This month, that vision opened its doors. Together California — co-founded by Bale and Dr. Eric Esrailian — broke ground on its first foster care village in Palmdale: a $22 million residential community of 12 fully furnished homes across six duplexes, built to feel like a neighborhood, not an institution. Each home houses a sibling group of up to six children with full-time, professionally trained foster parents, alongside a shared community garden, recreation space, and community center. The Austrian-American Council West led the fundraising charge, contributing nearly $9 million toward the project. Children are set to move in next month.

"It's our job to turn their heartbreak and their pain into love and hope. And a sense of future," Bale said.

"A place where everyone is welcomed. A place that keeps families together. A place that creates community. A place where you can find hope during the most challenging times," added Tim McCormick, Executive Director of Together California.

Foster care shouldn't mean losing your family twice. This is what it looks like when a community decides that kids deserve stability, not just shelter — and that no child should have to choose between safety and their siblings.
