  • Foreign Affairs
Israel is currently conducting a genocide in Palestine, a fact supported by the United Nations and other major organizations. Their right to defend themselves does not extend to the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people, and the US should not be supporting, funding, or arming the genocide that has taken tens–if not hundreds–of thousands of civilian Palestinian lives.

The Jewish people do not deserve to be automatically associated with a government they do not necessarily support, and many Jewish organizations have taken a strong stance against Israel and Netanyahu’s actions.

    Women's Rights
Women have long been a target, but the attack on women’s rights continues to expand at a rapid pace. Bills like the SAVE act unfairly affect women, and even JD Vance has made comments about limiting voting rights for women and childfree people. Women should have the same rights and access that men do, full stop, without the fear of those rights changing when crossing state lines.

    Immigration
Immigrants often risk life and limb fleeing from their home countries in search of safety, security, and opportunity in the United States. The 14th Amendment of the Constitution says everyone residing on American soil is entitled to due process under the law, whether they’re a citizen or not.

Our immigrant communities are under attack, with ICE hunting down, detaining, and deporting innocent people without their constitutional right to due process. America is built on immigration, and we must protect our migrant community members.

    LGBTQ Policy
LGBTQIA+ community, and especially trans people, are facing an increasingly hostile political environment, to the extent that the United States has been placed on a watchlist for trans genocide. We must expand and protect LGBTQIA+ rights, both in-state and nationwide.

    Healthcare
The United States is the only developed nation without a comprehensive universal healthcare system, despite spending more and more on healthcare every year. Even worse, they allow predatory insurance companies to make profit-driven decisions about people’s medical needs, raising costs and reducing care.

The richest nation on earth can and should provide this service to its citizens; its failure to do so is shameful.

The U.S. spends more on health care per capita than other high-income countries, but suffers in life expectancy and preventable mortality rates.

The Federal Government spent $1.9 trillion on healthcare in 2024 alone. Studies have shown that implementing universal healthcare would reduce national healthcare expenses by $438 billion annually, free up funds to boost the economy, and save tens of thousands of lives every year.

We must implement a single-payer healthcare system. I propose APHA which will:

    • Adapt the current Affordable Care Act to meet current needs

    • Expand Medicaid coverage and absorb Medicare:

      • Stagger coverage availability over a two-year period, beginning with vulnerable demographics like children, disabled people, and seniors, and progressing to full population coverage over a two year period.

    • Shift our existing Medicare tax to a Medicaid tax, with increase of 1.55% for both employers and employees, bringing the percentage to 5% and providing cost savings as private insurance premiums are eliminated.

    • Repeal the law restricting the US government from negotiating pharmaceutical prices.

  • Economy
Its no secret how bad our national debt has gotten. Our nations debt is a ticking time bomb, waiting to detonate on the American people. Why do we continue to send hundreds of billions of dollars of taxpayer money to endless other countries while our debt is in the trillions, our people are going hungry and many veterans are sleeping on the streets? Because we have a very unbalanced budget. Yet, members of congress from both of the two major political parties continue to add in more and more of the same excess spending that they claim to want to cut. This is an unacceptable process that we must put an immediate halt to. I've successfully balanced my household's budget year after year in the most expensive economy our nation has ever seen, in a time where the cost of living to wage gap has never been larger. I'm ready to hold congress to the same standard.

    Women's Rights
It is my belief that no government of any level within the United States of America has the right to regulate medical decisions for any individual. That being said, there has to be some point during pregnancy where the fetus is regarded as a human life and therefore a US citizen if the mother resides within the US. At that point in time its rights and liberties must be protected just as the mothers, so it would be unlawful to abort at that point in the pregnancy. We must agree upon a point in pregnancy for this collectively as one people.

    Gun Control
The constitution provides very clear guidelines for the peoples right to possess firearms; "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". The answer to reducing the amount of gun deaths in our country is to simply allow for better access to mental health treatment for individuals at will. A staggering 100% of all mass shootings nationwide have been carried out by individuals with unstable or poor mental health. One major step forward in preventing school shootings specifically, would be to allow for teachers to conceal carry in the classroom in all 50 states, and to make sure each and every school in the country has well trained resource officers on site.

    Immigration
This is the only issue I tend to fall out of line with Libertarian values on. Every great nation with inadequate border/immigration policy in history has either fallen to invading forces or been silently overtaken from within. We must have strong and effective border policy and strict immigration policy in place to stay a free and prosperous nation. I will fight alongside other members of congress for effective border/immigration policy. That being said, every American citizens freedom and liberties need to to be respected and adhered to. This means there can be no mistakes when ICE agents are conducting deportations. We cannot have US citizens being mistaken for illegal immigrants and therefore I propose internal policy change for the IDing process when apprehending suspected individuals.

    Other
My name is Joseph Lehman. I'm a blue collar worker, a proud father of 3 and husband to a wonderful woman. Make no mistake, I am not a career politician. Instead, I'm a simple family man that is fed up watching as our politicians on both sides of the aisle plunge our nation into turmoil. In times like these we need strong leadership, fair representation of ALL people and unity.
