Cost: Free – $5.00
Join Historic Beverly for this month’s Coffee & Conversation as we take a closer look at the remarkable life of Scipio Bartlett, a man enslaved in Beverly whose experiences spanned the American Revolution, early New England, and the War of 1812. Although the documentary record is incomplete, the pieces that remain reveal a life shaped by resilience, service, family, and community.
This 30-minute program will feature key documents connected to Bartlett’s life and discuss how these sources help illuminate his experiences and the world in which he lived. Together, we will consider how the story of one man, nearly lost to history, enhances our understanding of Beverly’s past and its connections to broader national events.
We welcome you to join us for this engaging exploration of a life that deserves to be remembered.
Coffee & Conversation are held every second Friday at 10:00 am at the Cabot House
