Submit your film to the Second Annual Art as Activism Film Contest

Our annual Art as Activism Film Contest challenges high school students to explore the world around them and use their creativity to highlight injustices we face in today’s modern world through film.

High school students in Massachusetts are invited to submit original short films concerning social justice issues to the second annual Art as Activism Film contest.

The top three submissions will be awarded cash prizes, and the top ten submissions will be screened at The Cabot in downtown Beverly, MA, on February 1, 2023.

CONTEST RULES

The Basics: 

Integrity: All videos must be original and must comply with all copyright regulations (music and images). 

Topics: Homelessness, food insecurity, health care, racism and all forms of bigotry, access to quality education, gun control, climate change, and humane immigration practices 

Deadline: EXTENDED! The new deadline is January 6, 2023. 

Registration: Please fill out the registration form (linked here and above) to receive a link to upload your submission. 

 

Video Details:

Format and Length: Live action and animated videos of three to five minutes 

Format: H.264 codec in an MPEG-4 wrapper (.mp4). Also acceptable formats: .mp4, .m4v, .mov, and .avi 

Resolution: minimum 1280 x 720 (720p). Full HD 1920x1080 (1080i or 1080p) Preferred

Frame Rate: US Standard (60, 59.94, 30, or 29.97 FPS)

 

Contest Details:

Prizes: The top three submissions will be awarded cash prizes. The first prize will be $350; second prize $200, and third prize $100. 

Judges: Judges will be professionals in the film industry and social justice arena. 

The top ten submissions will be screened at The Cabot in downtown Beverly on February 1, 2023.
